Saltzer Health Facilities Sold to Saint Alphonsus Health System: A Surprising Turn of Events After Intermountain Health’s Closure

Saltzer Health, a physician group based in Nampa, Idaho, recently sold three facilities to Saint Alphonsus Health System, located in Boise, Idaho. This decision came after Saltzer Health was closed on March 29 by Intermountain Health based in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The facilities that were sold include two urgent care centers in South Nampa and Meridian, Idaho, as well as an Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) in Meridian. The urgent care centers were closed on March 29 but are set to reopen in May once Saint Alphonsus installs IT equipment and an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The ASC has been operating “uninterrupted” under Saint Alphonsus’ ownership.

Saint Alphonsus, a nonprofit health system that is part of Trinity Health based in Livonia, Michigan, comprises four hospitals, 595 beds, 74 medical group clinics, and seven joint venture relationships, with 6,200 employees. The health system intends to employ all colleagues from the ambulatory surgery unit who remain in good standing and pass the pre-employment screening process.

In addition to the sale of facilities, Intermountain Medical Imaging purchased Saltzer Health Imaging located at Ten Mile Clinic. The imaging center is scheduled to reopen in the week of April 8. Intermountain Medical Imaging and Intermountain Health are separate entities
